My love of the outdoors has been a lifelong passion; from mountain biking to hiking to adventure skiing, being outside has always been where I best fit on the planet. My interest in plant life and all things growing outside began shortly after hiring on with a retail nursery organization in high school. As I watched and learned the business, I became fascinated by the complexity of nurturing various trees and plants. While working at the nursery, I was exposed to wide variety of landscape layouts and often found thought to myself how I might have done them differently. This is the point when I decided that my future should be in the art of landscape design.

I attended Purdue University, where I had the opportunity to serve internships at several of the premiere landscape design/build firms in the Midwest. After graduating in 2004 with a degree in Horticulture and Landscape Design, I started my career with one of the north shore premiere landscape firms. I spent 2 1/2 years in this business, managing crews and projects. This led to my desire to launch my own business; Griffin Design & Build based in Wadsworth, IL. Through a lot of hard work and an intense focus on exceeding my client’s needs and expectations, my one crew developed into a rapidly expanding design build firm. Due to that expanding business, we opened a new facility in Lake Bluff, IL in the spring of 2008.

While my passion is the art of landscaping, the completely satisfied client has become my greatest thrill. I love helping people create a vision, and I share their joy when that vision comes to life in front of them.
